No matter your level of activity or what you may be interested in taking part in, our program provides a blend of daily fitness, healthy eating, motivational health education and touring. Vacations no longer has to be associated with gluttonous and unhealthy habits or monotonous CME education programs delegated to hours sitting in hotel meeting spaces. Instead, a HealthyMD-CME allows you to see the world, while also maintaining or putting you on the path to healthy living and work life balance.

Structure: Every moment of your week will be a structured balance of exploration, education, motivation, healthy intake and toxic output.

Accountability & Commitment: When you decide it’s time to lead a healthier and balanced lifestyle, we provide a truly unique and fun adventure in which to achieve this goal. We challenge you to achieve optimal physical performance, a healthy weight, stress reduction and a balanced way of life.

Pre-Cruise Health & Fitness Program: Our pre-cruise health and fitness session is designed to inspire, guide, motivate and support your choice for a healthier you. Each guest has the option of utilizing an assessment session with our e-coaches to help guide, motivate, and prep you for your upcoming adventure.

Change Facilitation: Many travelers who enjoy a HealthyMD-CME adventure live a healthy and balanced lifestyle or have made the change and see the benefits of living that life. Others are in transition or looking for a catalyst to begin living a healthy lifestyle.

Change is never easy, and it doesn’t happen right away. Typically, people experience resistance throughout the transition to becoming healthier and feel hesitant to give up old habits or try something new.

As you journey with us, you will see small signs of improvement and success. You will begin to feel and look slimmer and a little more toned. Your energy levels will increase, you will have a little more spring in your step, and you will begin to experience the power of balanced healthy living. Daily Schedule

Each day begins with an hour of yoga and stretching to wake and warm the body. Here, we ready the body to optimize and begin its daily metabolic burn. Next, we serve a hearty breakfast filled with delicious, heart-healthy cuisine. This teaches us how to properly fuel our bodies and carries us through the day at its most optimal level. Fully fueled, we embark on our tour program. Whether exploring a historical destination by foot at a port of call, bike riding through the countryside, rafting a river or hiking through cloud forests, our hours of active touring will be the day’s ultimate metabolic burn and take us to some of the world’s most spectacular travel sites.

We return to our resort or ship for a heart-healthy lunch, educating us on proper mid-day eating habits and fueling us until dinner. This helps to teach us how to avoid the common “post-lunch food coma.” After lunch we may enjoy a scenic walk or continue with a tour program as an important part of this process–and once again initiate the body for its optimal metabolic burn. For those taking part in our CME education program we will next be led by world renowned educators on the days subject of physician wellness. We will not be lectured to, but learn, grow and experience together with our new friends, the tools for achieving a balanced life-work habit. Those not taking part in the CME program will have free time to rest and rejuvenate, enjoy a massage or explore our ports of call at leisure. Our late afternoon program we embark on a 60-minute strength and core training workout. Here, we educate and focus on the healthiest and most efficient ways to build body strength. We will introduce you to a number of different exercise modalities, which are very easy to learn. Take this valuable knowledge home with you to continue on your path to health and longevity.

At our dinners, we promote healthy and efficient end-of-the-day eating habits. This allows for the proper timing and intake to fuel the body and enable the metabolism to slow — but still burn — as we ready you for rest and rejuvenation. Our after-dinner walking tour is a very important part of this process. This may be a nocturnal rainforest wildlife hike or an evening walking tour through the cobblestone streets of a European village or city. After this tour, enjoy the ship’s evening entertainment, a night at the opera in Vienna, or share time with new friends on the town – or just relax with a good book in the comfort of your luxurious surrounds, as we travel a river under a million stars or experience the sounds of the rainforest as it comes alive with it nocturnal wildlife.

Walking & Biking – The journey upward

The program’s main physical challenge focuses on daily intensive walking tours that may average 10 miles per day through some of the world’s most spectacular surroundings – from pastoral villages to ancient and modern city streets to rainforest and volcano national parks. On several days, we incorporate biking tours that take us way off the beaten path.

Yoga – The journey inward

HealthyMD-CME adventure begins each day with an hour of yoga. The practice of yoga is a powerful bridge to a better attitude and outlook, more serenity and tranquility, more flexibility and strength, and a higher quality of life in general.

Resistance & functional training – The journey outward

This is an educational process in which we move away from the antiquated system of grueling weight lifting. Instead, we focus on mobility and stability exercises, muscle toning, improved range of movement, core stability and correct breathing. With the correct training equipment and resistance exercises, you will learn to strengthen and lengthen each muscle and ensure correct posture, fluid movement, core stability and maximization of your physical potential.

Core training

The key to strength is developing a strong core—or center of the body. One method is the art of Pilates to strengthen that core. Pilates dramatically transforms the way your body looks, feels and performs. It builds strength without excess bulk, creating a sleek, toned body. It teaches body awareness, good posture and easy, graceful movements. Pilates improves flexibility, stability, agility and economy of motion. No matter what your age or condition, it will work for you. Pilates is a safe, sensible exercise system that helps you look and feel your very best.

Bodyworks

These classes use various resistance and repetition training techniques to improve muscular strength and endurance. They develop muscle definition and elevate the body’s metabolism by increasing lean muscle mass. The benefits of strength training programs are well known. This training increases muscle size and tone; improves muscle, tendon, bone and ligament strength; increases physical performance; improves metabolic efficiency; decreases risk of injury; and provides psychological benefits, such as increased self-esteem, improved body image, energy and improved mood.

Stretching Clinics

Stretching increases your range of motion, which means your limbs and joints move further before an injury occurs. Post-exercise stretching also aids in workout recovery, decreases muscle soreness and ensures that your muscles and tendons are in good working order. The more conditioned your muscles and tendons are, the better they can handle the rigors of sport and exercise, and the less likely that they will become injured.

After our daily fitness programs and adventures, stretching is a must – both for recovery and to prep you for the next day’s activities. You will find that daily stretching is an essential lifetime routine. Be kind to your muscles, and they will be kind to you.

Adventures

HealthyMD-CME takes advantage of the spectacular natural environment at many of our destinations. We offer numerous exciting outdoor adventures that complement your physical fitness regimen. Adventures including walking, hiking, kayaking, biking, white water rafting, zip-lining plus so much more.

Education & Knowledge

Our guides are uniquely connected to our tour destinations. They are naturalists and historians, whose purpose is to educate participants in an engaging, informative and fun approach. This helps our guests to truly experience and learn the regions we travel.

Evening programs

Our evening programs are unique, entertaining and inspiring. They offer the perfect way to end your day. Sit back and relax, while you share conversation and a beverage in the lounge with new friends as the river passes you by or just listening to the sounds of the rainforest.

Cuisine

Traveling to unique destinations and experiencing the local cuisine are part of the travel experience. At HealthyMD-CME, we understand that the food experience is one of the most important components of any travel experience. Food is also one of the most important components of healthy living. At HealthyMD-CME, we teach participants that life is all about balance. One of the ways we teach this concept is through our optional healthy menu choice program. Our goal is to have you experience and enjoy as much of the local cuisine as possible, while also eating balanced meals and learning portion control. Our healthy choice menus are developed by our staff of chefs and nutritionists, with the goal of helping you achieve the recommended daily intake of nutrition levels to keep you fueled for the program’s physical activities and to help you reach the goals of detoxification, toning and rejuvenation.
